At this time, Union County is very close to getting below the threshold of 5% new cases in the preceding three-week period that the Governor mandated last Wednesday. This may allow us to hold on site classes for at a minimum kindergarten through third grade. All other grade levels would be mandated to be from a distance. This has a high potential to change and we are hopeful for less restrictions, but we are preparing for multiple scenarios for opening in the fall. We have purchased sanitation equipment for the classrooms and facilities with plans to create the safest place possible for our students and staff. The state plans to update school districts August 11th on how school will operate in the fall, which maybe different in Eastern Oregon vs other parts of the state. Union School District plans to update families as this information is available. As these requirements are finalized we will begin to schedule high school students into specific courses.

Oregon School Athletic Association has stated that contests for the 2020/21 sports season cannot begin prior to December. Three sport seasons, roughly 10 weeks in length starting with winter sports followed by fall sports and finishing out the school year with spring sports. If you have further questions about athletics please email the Athletic Director, chris.dunlapatunionsd5.org (Chris Dunlap) Voluntary Participation Student Accident/ Health Insurance is available through Myers-Stevens & Toohey Company.
