3rd per: Finals are due for Connor, James, Jerry, Brooklyn, Samantha.

4th per: Finish the last script.

 

Handouts of summaries of myths that we did as plays.

Test next Monday, Dec 10th—quiz over the myths and test on “Most Dangerous Game” (26), “Us and Them”(244),  and “The Scarlet Ibis” (106).  You may use whatever notes you personally write as you read/re-read the writings and whatever notes you have taken from discussion or precis you wrote or questions you answered. Your notes must be turned in with your test. Staple notes separately from the test.

Do a preliminary brainstorm for your writing tomorrow. See below. If you need to refresh your memory, re-read, discuss with a classmate, look at your notes. You will use your brainstorming and your writing tomorrow as your very rough draft to begin a formal essay which will be due before Winter Break. You will not be reading this aloud to the class. They may be too personal, and they will be on the same topics.

In-class writing to do:  your cage, “Sympathy” (404), the scarlet ibis, Daedalus, and Icarus. Remember that these birds symbolize or represent some aspect of humanity.

They teach us about ourselves in powerful ways (themes).

 

Consider this writing today as a preliminary draft. Write well.

FYI: Final Essay will be 2-3 pages. Numerous paragraphs. Transitions. Topic sentences.
