Bring 6 copies to class. Pass them around and read aloud: get feedback.

Apply feedback. FINAL is due on Thursday at beginning of class.

Pay special attention to the MLA formatting. It must be correct to earn all the credit.

 

Reading assigned: Due on Thursday for class: Read Chapter 7. Review anything that is mentioned from previous readings that you don’t remember exactly: logos, Kairos, pathos, ethos . . .

Turn in Rj: “Harrison Bergeron” Rj for Tuesday, February 19th.

Read background information on theme. Rj due on 2/19.

 

Watch video based on “Harrison Bergeron.” As you watch, note the differences between the story and the movie.

 

Homework: Are the differences significant? You will report to class on Thursday.

Homework: Write a theme for “Barn Burning” and turn it in Thursday.

Read text: Chapter 13 and complete #2 on page 488 for Thursday.

Work with a partner. If even number in class, just 2 in a group.  If odd number in class, 3 in a group. Do not write the analysis as a formal essay. Simply note the differences—as a list. ONE writing per group.

Work on it: rest of today, if time, and tomorrow in class.

Read “The Hummingbird That Lives Through Winter” (pp412-3).

Answer the questions on p 414: “Find Meaning” 1-2 & “Make Judgments” 3-4. Turn in these answers before leaving class. Turn in whatever you have finished. Do this independently--everyone tries to complete it in the classroom on their own.
